Forum Against Corporatization and Militarization (FACAM) is a joint platform of various organizations and individuals ranging from students, lawyers, women’s rights groups, minority rights groups, academics, teachers, intellectuals, trade unions, labour rights groups, journalists and writers, based in Delhi, India. FACAM was formed in 2022 in solidarity with the mass resistance that occurred in a small village called Silger in Chhattisgarh, where thousands of Adivasi peasants gathered to stage a sit in protest after the Indian state’s paramilitary and police opened fire on some villagers, killing 4 adults and an unborn child, who were protesting against mining projects and the military camps being set up to serve said mining projects. Hundreds of such fortified paramilitary camps are being propped up in the resource-rich regions of India, as a means of quelling any dissent against corporatization.

The people’s movement against corporate loot of natural resources at the service of imperialists and big Indian corporate as well as the militarization of their lands has spread like wildfire, with not only the Silger protest site continuing their resistance to this day, but 30+ such sites cropping up in areas where peasant lands are being grabbed by the state for mining operations. FACAM continues to work in conjunction with people’s resistance to corporatization, militarization and the fight against imperialism.
